My husband and I are getting a divorce. We currently live in Indiana, but just moved here. The law here states we have to have lived here for at least 6 months so be considered a resident; thus can divorce after that. Our 6 month of being here would be 8/19/2016. We already agreed what we both want, regarding settlements. What is the best way to handle this? We both don't have a lot of money, but want our agreement in writing to protect ourselves. We don't want to hire two separate attorneys because that's more expensive, yet I'm unsure if a family-law divorce mediator can just draft up what we want? We are just looking for someone to write up what we want (and agreed on) to make it legal, and to where we can't go back to court on it, and be done with it. Is this possible, especially at a reasonable cost? Since we aren't residents in Indiana until 8/19/2016, can we have someone draft up our agreement now and then file for divorce and sign the agreement on or after Aug 19? Thanks!!!
